The Enguli ya Bunyoro Project is a youth-led initiative designed to safeguard, digitize and revitalize the vanishing cultural heritage of the Bunyoro region. Named after the traditional Runyoro word for a granary (Enguli), this project transforms the concept of a physical food storehouse into a secure Digital Granary. Instead of grain, we are harvesting and protecting centuries of traditional knowledge, ancestral philosophies and indigenous cultural expressions. Our long-term vision is to build a vibrant ecosystem where history drives modern local employment, creative industries and sustainable cultural tourism.
The Problem
The Generational Transmission Failure
Bunyoro is facing a critical cultural turning point.
Identity Loss: Contemporary youth are becoming culturally disconnected, losing touch with ancestral naming systems like the Empaako and deeply rooted philosophies.
Permanent Erosion: As our pre-industrial elders pass away, the Runyoro language, historic folklore and unique cultural practices risk disappearing forever.

The Solution
Building the Digital Granary
We are deploying a phygital (physical + digital) framework that empowers tech-savvy youth to capture and preserve indigenous wisdom. By combining community outreach with modern digital archiving, we seek to create a searchable, multimedia repository. Technology shouldn’t replace our roots but protect them. This digital ecosystem will ensure that Bunyoro's cultural assets are safely preserved, verified by elders and made accessible to the world.
